Dalby Forest
32 miles from Bridlington.
For a fun day out why not take a trip to Dalby Forest, you could take a picnic or use one of the supplied BBQ areas.
A toll is charged to enter the forest by car, although parking is free. The main visitor centre has a café and shop, which is adjacent to a selection of other businesses including a bike shop and various craft workshops.
Dalby forest has many species of trees including oak, beech, ash, alder and hazel and is home to many species of wildlife and birds, badgers, roe deer and nightjars.
The forest has several car parks, hiking trails and mountain bike trails, Take a 'forest drive' throughout the forest if you are not that energetic and if you are very energetic then go to the Go Ape centre, where you can take to the trees and enjoy rope bridges, Tarzan Swings and wind-in-your-face zip wires and enjoy an experience you'll never forget.
Mountain bike trails correspond to the standard IMBA and Forestry Commission grading scheme. Some start from the main visitor centre, others from Dixons Hollow, an area a little further along the forest drive.
The Visitor Centre contains an information desk and shop, a conference / function room, Treetops Restaurant, an exhibition area and toilets.
Dalby Courtyard was developed as part of the Dalby Project and has craft units, offices, Purple Mountain Bike Centre and cafe, toilets and the Community Resource Centre, which can be booked for meetings / functions.
